Applications span multiple sectors. In agriculture, it informs irrigation and planting schedules; in aviation and shipping, it influences routing and scheduling; for outdoor events and construction, it helps determine timing and safety precautions; and in emergency management, it underpins preparedness and response planning.

Challenges include effectively communicating probabilistic information, avoiding overreliance on single-point forecasts, and mitigating cognitive biases in risk assessment. Ongoing research emphasizes better risk communication, user-centered design of tools, and transparent documentation of uncertainty.
