poliglecapronone
Poliglecaprone, commonly known by the trade name Monocryl, is a synthetic absorbable monofilament suture material used in medicine. It is a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone (poliglecaprone 25), produced by ring-opening polymerization. The material is designed to provide adequate initial tensile strength during the early healing period, then gradually hydrolyze and be absorbed by the body.
The monofilament structure offers smooth passage through tissue with low drag and minimal tissue reaction compared
Indications for use include soft tissue approximation and suturing, subcutaneous closures, mucosal repairs, and other closures
Safety and handling considerations are similar to other synthetic absorbable sutures: it is designed to be
Note: spelling variants such as poliglecapronone may appear in some texts; the commonly used material is poliglecaprone
