Tiedonsiirtoväylä, in English data transfer bus, is a communication subsystem within a computer or digital device that carries data between components such as the central processing unit, memory, and input/output controllers. The genitive form Tiedonsiirtoväylän is used in Finnish to describe properties or relations of the bus, for example Tiedonsiirtoväylän kapasiteetti or Tiedonsiirtoväylän arbirointi.

Buses can be organized as parallel or serial and may be synchronous or asynchronous. The width of a data bus, measured in bits, determines how much information can be transmitted per cycle, while clocking and signaling define timing. Over time, many traditional parallel buses have given way to high-speed serial interconnects (for example PCIe), while embedded and microcontroller environments still rely on simpler buses such as I2C and SPI. Modern systems may also use on-chip networks and memory buses that connect processors, memory, and peripherals efficiently.
