Limitek is a term used in industrial automation to describe a family of limiter technologies that enforce predefined operational limits on processes and equipment. The concept is applied across hardware and software implementations, and there is no single universal specification. In practice, limitek systems monitor one or more process variables and trigger protective actions when limits are reached.

A typical limitek solution comprises sensors or input signals, a thresholding or rule engine, and an output that may stop, slow, or otherwise modify the process.
