fasciopathy
Fasciopathy is a medical term used to describe disorders of the fascia, the sheets of connective tissue that envelop and segregate muscles and other structures. Fascia forms compartments, transmits mechanical forces, and maintains structural integrity across the body. Fasciopathy encompasses inflammatory, degenerative, and fibrotic changes in fascial tissue that produce pain, tenderness, or functional limitation. It is an umbrella term rather than a single disease and can affect fascia in many anatomical regions.
Pathophysiology varies by site but generally involves repetitive microtrauma, overuse, aging, metabolic factors, or biomechanical abnormalities
Plantar fasciopathy is the most widely recognized fasciopathy, presenting as heel pain near the plantar fascia
Clinical features include focal tenderness over the affected fascia, activity-related pain, morning stiffness, and sometimes palpable
Management is usually conservative and multidisciplinary. Options include activity modification, targeted stretching and strengthening, orthotics or
