Dyspraxiaa, commonly referred to as dyspraxia or developmental coordination disorder (DCD), is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects motor planning and coordination. People with dyspraxiaa have difficulty planning, organizing, and executing precise movements, which can lead to clumsiness and challenges with everyday tasks. It is not caused by muscle weakness or intellectual disability, and the term dyspraxiaa is generally considered a misspelling of dyspraxia in many discussions.

Symptoms typically appear in early childhood and can include delays in reaching motor milestones, awkward gait, trouble with balance, and difficulties with fine motor tasks such as writing, cutting with scissors, or tying shoelaces. Daily activities like dressing, using utensils, or participating in sports may require extra time and support. Some individuals also experience difficulties with sequencing actions, planning movements in sequence, or integrating sensory information, and speech motor control can be affected for a subset.

Causes are not fully understood, but dyspraxiaa is thought to involve atypical development of neural networks that plan and coordinate movement. Genetic and environmental factors may contribute. Diagnosis is made by health and education professionals through history, observation, and standardized motor assessments, while ruling out other conditions. Prevalence estimates suggest it affects about 5–6% of school-age children, with a higher reported rate in boys. It often co-occurs with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or learning disabilities.

Management focuses on support and skill development rather than cure. Interventions include occupational therapy, physical therapy, and targeted practice for daily tasks and handwriting, along with educational accommodations and assistive strategies. With early and consistent support, many individuals improve functional skills, though some symptoms persist into adolescence or adulthood.
