Airconnected is a term used to describe systems and architectures that enable wireless communication between devices and networks via air interfaces. It emphasizes the use of wireless channels rather than wired connections to enable interoperability, mobility, and remote management. In practice, airconnected deployments combine radio frequency wireless technologies with software ecosystems that manage device onboarding, identity, security, and data exchange.

Technologies commonly involved include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave, NFC, and ultrawideband, as well as cellular IoT protocols such as NB-IoT and LTE-M in some implementations. Gateways or hubs translate between local air interfaces and cloud services, while edge computing can process data locally to reduce latency and bandwidth usage. Interoperability is a key design goal, often achieved through standardized application layers and device profiles.

Applications span consumer and industrial domains: smart homes and buildings, asset tracking and logistics, industrial automation, healthcare monitoring, and environmental sensing. Airconnected systems enable remote control, monitoring, and data analytics, as well as over-the-air updates and security management.

Challenges include security and privacy risks, such as eavesdropping, spoofing, and unauthorized access; spectrum interference; battery life for mobile devices; and ensuring interoperability across vendors.
