Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or Axure is common. While not always required, knowledge of front-end basics can help in communicating constraints.

Deliverables commonly produced by UX designers include personas, user journeys, site maps, wireframes, interactive prototypes, task analyses, and usability reports. They also help define design systems and ensure consistency in visual and interaction patterns.

Role scope varies: some designers are generalists handling research through visuals, while others specialize in interaction design, information architecture, or UX research. In many organizations the role overlaps with product design or UI design.

Education and background: many designers hold degrees in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, graphic design, or related fields; formal training in UX or product design is common. Ongoing learning about methods, accessibility standards, and emerging tools is typical.

Work environments: UX designers are employed by tech companies, startups, agencies, and consultancies. Their goal is to improve user adoption, satisfaction, and task success, often measured by usability metrics and user feedback. Inclusive and accessible design is increasingly emphasized.
