SE940 is a model of electric vehicle (EV) produced by the Chinese automaker BYD (Build Your Dreams). Introduced in 2021, it is positioned as a compact electric sedan aimed at the Chinese market, particularly targeting urban commuters and young professionals. The SE940 is part of BYD’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the rapidly growing Chinese EV sector.

The SE940 features a sleek, modern design with aerodynamic styling, including sharp lines and a low profile. It is powered by an electric motor that delivers a combined output of approximately 200 horsepower, paired with a single electric motor driving the front wheels. Inside, the SE940 offers a minimalist and tech-forward interior with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Standard features include automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Seating is provided for five passengers, with a focus on comfort and space efficiency.

The SE940 is manufactured at BYD’s plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, and is sold exclusively in China. It competes in the same segment as other popular electric sedans, such as the Tesla Model 3 and BYD’s own Han EV. Pricing for the SE940 starts at around 129,800 yuan (approximately $18,500 USD), making it one of the more affordable options in its class.

The SE940 has received mixed reviews, with praise for its design, driving dynamics, and tech features, while some critics note limitations in its interior materials and build quality compared to higher-end competitors.
