Reaktiivsüsteeme

Reaktiivsüsteeme, also known as reactive systems, are computational systems that operate in continuous interaction with their environment. Unlike batch systems that process a fixed set of inputs to produce a fixed set of outputs, reactive systems are designed to be long-running and to respond to events or changes in their surroundings. Their behavior is characterized by a continuous loop of sensing, processing, and acting.

The environment can be physical, such as in the case of robotic systems or embedded controllers, or it can be digital, like user interfaces or network protocols. The key characteristic is the dynamic nature of the interaction. Reactive systems must be able to handle the unpredictable arrival and timing of events, and their responses need to be timely and appropriate.

Common examples of reactive systems include operating systems, which manage hardware resources and respond to user commands and device interrupts; embedded systems in cars or appliances, which monitor sensors and control actuators; and web servers, which handle incoming requests and deliver responses. The design of reactive systems often involves concurrency, parallelism, and the management of state, as they need to maintain internal consistency while dealing with external stimuli. The study of reactive systems is a significant area within computer science, focusing on formal methods, modeling, and design patterns for building robust and predictable interactive software.
