Networksdesigned is a descriptive term used to refer to the disciplined process of planning, designing, and implementing networks of various kinds, including computer, telecommunication, and logistical networks. It encompasses the selection of topology, protocols, hardware, software, and governance to meet stated requirements such as performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency. In academic and professional discourse, networksdesigned emphasizes the design phase as distinct from operation, maintenance, or optimization, and it often incorporates systems engineering methods, modeling, and verification.

Key concepts include modular architecture, scalable topologies, redundancy and fault tolerance, security-by-design, observability, interoperability, and energy efficiency. Design artifacts commonly produced are requirements specifications, network diagrams, bill of materials, deployment plans, and testing protocols. Standardization and reference models (such as OSI, TCP/IP, and vendor-neutral interfaces) guide interfaces and compatibility.
