Mérnökségnek, or engineering in Hungarian, refers to the professional discipline and practice of applying scientific, mathematical, and empirical principles to design, build, analyze, maintain, and improve structures, machines, devices, systems, materials, and processes. Engineering is rooted in both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, requiring a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and other sciences. Hungarian engineering education is structured to provide students with rigorous training in these core subjects, complemented by hands-on laboratory work and real-world projects. Universities in Hungary, such as the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), are renowned for their engineering programs, offering degrees in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and computer engineering, among others.
