Motorjuhte

Motorjuhte is a term used in robotics and motor control to describe the devices and systems that govern the operation of electric motors. In practice, motorjuhte encompass hardware drivers and software controllers that regulate motor speed, torque, direction, and braking, often by generating pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals and using feedback from sensors such as encoders or tachometers.

Etymology and usage: The word combines motor with juhte, a form connected to control or driving in Estonian. The term is encountered in some Estonian-language sources and hobbyist writings as a generic label for motor-control equipment. More specific terminology, such as motor controller, motor driver, or drive, is used depending on the application and region.

Types and components: Motorjuhte can be hardware-based, such as integrated motor driver ICs, external driver boards, or servo amplifiers, or software-based, running on microcontrollers or embedded computers. Typical features include PWM generation, current control, velocity and position control loops, fault protection, and interfaces for feedback (encoders, resolvers) and control signals.

Applications: They are central in robotics, CNC machinery, 3D printers, and electric vehicles, where precise and reliable motor control is required. In hobby projects, compact stepper or DC motor driver boards are common, whereas industrial systems rely on sophisticated servo drives.
