Alarmventiler

Alarmventiler, or alarm valves, are valves equipped with an integrated alarm mechanism designed to signal when a monitored parameter in a piping system deviates from set limits. They are used to provide early warning of abnormal conditions and to facilitate protective actions, such as isolating a section of pipe or alerting personnel.

How they work: A typical alarmventil is installed in a pipeline and connected to sensors or switches that monitor factors like pressure, flow, or temperature. When a threshold is exceeded or a fault is detected, the valve may actuate to alter flow, and an electrical or pneumatic alarm signal is generated and transmitted to a control system, local annunciator, or remote monitoring station. Some configurations combine a mechanical valve action with an electronic alarm, while others primarily provide an alarm signal without changing the valve position.

Types and configurations: Alarmventiler can be mechanical, electro-pneumatic, or fully electronic. Common variants include pressure-alarm valves, flow-alarm valves, and monitoring assemblies that couple a valve with sensors and a control module. In some installations, the alarm function is tied to a pump, valve sequencing, or fire protection and safety systems to trigger automatic responses.

Applications: They are used across water supply networks, district heating and cooling systems, fire sprinkler and safetys systems, and process industries where early fault detection is critical. They help detect leaks, blockages, pump failures, or abnormal thermal or pressure conditions.

Maintenance and standards: Proper installation, sizing, and interconnection with control systems are essential. Regular testing, calibration, and preventive maintenance are recommended, following applicable national and international standards and the manufacturer’s instructions.
