Principles of thermikmanagement include both passive and active cooling methods. Passive approaches rely on natural convection, conduction through heat sinks, and radiative cooling, while active methods use fans, pumps, cold plates, and liquid cooling loops. Design often employs thermal interfaces, phase change materials, heat pipes, and compact heat exchangers. Thermal modeling combines lumped-parameter calculations with computational fluid dynamics, followed by prototyping and testing to validate predictions.

Emerging trends focus on advanced materials such as high-conductivity interfaces and phase-change materials, two-phase and immersive liquid cooling, and integrated cooling solutions that support compact form factors and higher power densities. The field emphasizes efficiency, scalability, and sustainability across diverse applications.
