The sagopalm, scientifically known as Cycas revoluta, is a popular ornamental plant that belongs to the ancient division Cycadophyta. Despite its common name, it is not a true palm tree but rather a cycad, a group of seed-bearing plants that have been around for millions of years. Native to southern Japan and the Ryukyu Islands, the sagopalm is characterized by its slow growth and long lifespan, often exceeding a century.
