Plecionki are braids or woven cords created by interlacing two or more strands of material such as cotton, wool, silk, leather, or metal wire. The term comes from the Polish verb pleść, meaning to braid, and is used to describe a family of braided constructions used in textiles, fashion, and decorative arts.

Braiding techniques vary in complexity. A basic plecionka uses three strands and yields a flat or cylindrical cord. More strands allow thicker cords and more intricate patterns. Plecionki can be made by hand with simple tools or with specialized braiding devices or disks. Materials range from natural fibers to modern synthetics, including cotton, linen, wool, silk, leather, paracord, and metallic threads. The choice of material affects texture, strength, and appearance.

Applications include decorative cords for garments, belts, and headwear; lanyards and jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces; tassels and trimmings on accessories and home crafts; and historically in horse tack and nautical ropework. In Poland and other cultures, plecionki are a common element of traditional dress and modern craft projects, valued for their versatility and durability.
