A tassel is a decorative ornament made from a cluster of threads or cords bound at one end and forming a tasselled fringe at the other. The bound end is usually attached to a cap, cord, or ornament, creating a pendant-like hang. Tassels appear in textiles, fashion, and furnishings and are found in many cultures.

Construction varies, but most tassels have a core that holds the strands together, with the individual threads gathered within a binding or knot.
