Automatika, often referred to as automation, is a field of engineering and technology that deals with the use of control systems for operating equipment and processes, minimizing human intervention. It encompasses the design and implementation of systems that can automatically perform tasks previously done by humans. This involves sensors to gather data about the environment, controllers to process this data and make decisions, and actuators to perform actions.

The core principle of automatika is feedback. A sensor measures a variable, such as temperature or position. This measurement is sent to a controller, which compares it to a desired setpoint. If there is a difference, the controller sends a signal to an actuator, like a motor or valve, to adjust the system and bring the variable closer to the setpoint. This continuous loop of sensing, comparing, and acting is fundamental to automatic control.

Applications of automatika are widespread across many industries. In manufacturing, robotic arms and automated assembly lines increase efficiency and precision. In building management, systems control lighting, heating, and ventilation for optimal comfort and energy savings.
