The term combines autocompletion with the -iota suffix to indicate compact units of action. In this view, interactions are composed of small, anticipatory units that can be inserted or executed to streamline workflows, potentially across multiple applications.

Core components typically described include a context model that captures the user’s task state and goals, an intention inference module that predicts goals from observed behavior, a suggestion engine that renders candidate actions alongside text, and an interaction layer that enables rapid execution of chosen items—often via keyboard shortcuts or gestures.
