Vérnyomásmér

Vérnyomásmér is the Hungarian term for a blood pressure monitor, a medical device used to measure arterial blood pressure. This measurement is crucial for assessing cardiovascular health and diagnosing conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure) and hypotension (low blood pressure).

There are two primary types of vérnyomásmér: manual and automatic. Manual models, often referred to as sphygmomanometers, require a stethoscope and a trained operator. They consist of an inflatable cuff, a pressure gauge, and a bulb for inflation. The operator listens for Korotkoff sounds as the cuff deflates to determine systolic and diastolic pressure. Automatic vérnyomásmér, commonly used for home monitoring, use electronic sensors and digital displays to show the readings. They are generally easier to use, requiring less training.

The measurement process involves wrapping a cuff around the upper arm or wrist. The cuff is then inflated to temporarily stop blood flow and subsequently deflated slowly. The device records the pressure at which blood flow returns (systolic pressure) and the pressure when blood flow is unrestricted (diastolic pressure). Regular monitoring with a vérnyomásmér is recommended, especially for individuals with known risk factors for cardiovascular disease, to maintain awareness of their blood pressure levels.
