Sidepull
Sidepull is a term in rock climbing and bouldering that refers to a handhold gripped on its side rather than from the front. The hold is typically an edge or projection oriented horizontally or diagonally, so the climber applies lateral pressure to stay attached. Sidepulls occur on natural rock features with side facets as well as on artificial climbing holds designed to be grabbed from the side.
Technique and body position: The hand wraps around the side of the hold, with the fingers pressing
Applications and difficulty: Sidepulls are useful for transitions between holds and for maintaining tension on vertical
Variations and related holds: The term encompasses a range of side-oriented grips, including simple side edges
