Robotiksystems is a term used to describe integrated systems that combine robotic hardware, sensing, actuators, control software, and communication networks to perform automated tasks. They span domains from industrial automation to service robots and autonomous systems used in logistics, healthcare, agriculture, and research.

Typical architectures include a mechanical platform with actuators and end effectors, sensors for perception (vision, lidar, tactile), and a control layer that may be centralized, distributed, or edge-based. Some systems operate with on-board processing, while others rely on cloud or edge computing. Interoperability is aided by standard robot operating system interfaces and modular design.

Key technologies encompass perception, motion planning, control, and human–robot interaction. Software frameworks such as ROS and ROS 2 are widely used; AI methods support perception, decision making, and autonomy. Safety and reliability are supported by redundant hardware, fault detection, and robust programming practices. Standards and safety guidelines are defined by ISO 8373, ISO 10218, and ISO/TS 15066 for collaborative robots.

Applications of robotiksystems include industrial automation and material handling, warehouse automation, medical robotics, surgical assistance, rehabilitation devices, agricultural robotics, service robots for homes and hospitality, and underwater or space exploration robots.

Market and research trends emphasize modularity, interoperability, and cybersecurity; increasing use of modular hardware, digital twins, simulation, and cloud or edge AI; ongoing work to reduce cost and improve safety, ethics, and human–robot collaboration.
