PlaneraUtföraKollaAgera, often abbreviated as PUCA, is a management and quality improvement methodology. It is derived from the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, a widely adopted iterative four-step management method used in business for the control and continuous improvement of processes and products. The Swedish terms translate to Plan, Execute, Check, and Act respectively.

The Plan phase involves identifying a problem or an opportunity for improvement, analyzing the current situation, and developing a plan to address it. This includes defining objectives, setting targets, and outlining the steps needed to achieve them.

The Utföra (Execute) phase is where the plan is put into action. This involves implementing the proposed changes, carrying out the necessary tasks, and collecting data on the outcomes. It is important to document the process and any deviations from the original plan.

The Kolla (Check) phase is dedicated to reviewing the results of the executed plan. This involves analyzing the data collected during the Utföra phase, comparing the actual outcomes against the planned objectives and targets, and identifying any differences or unexpected results.

The Agera (Act) phase involves taking action based on the findings from the Kolla phase. If the plan was successful, it is standardized and implemented more broadly. If the plan did not yield the desired results, further analysis is conducted to understand why, and the cycle is repeated with a revised plan. PUCA emphasizes continuous improvement and learning, making it a valuable tool for organizations aiming to enhance their processes and overall performance.
