NVMeModules

NVMeModules refers to hardware and software components that enable solid-state drives (SSDs) to communicate with a host system using the NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) protocol. NVMe is a high-performance interface designed specifically for flash memory storage, offering significant improvements in latency and throughput compared to older protocols like AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface).

The core of an NVMeModule is the NVMe controller, a chip integrated into the SSD itself. This controller handles the complex tasks of managing the NAND flash memory, translating data requests from the host system into commands the flash can understand, and optimizing data transfer. On the host system side, NVMeModules include the necessary drivers, firmware, and BIOS/UEFI support to recognize and communicate with NVMe SSDs. These drivers allow the operating system to access the SSD's capabilities, such as multiple command queues and deeper queue depths, which are crucial for achieving high IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second).

The primary benefit of NVMeModules is their ability to bypass bottlenecks inherent in older storage interfaces. By communicating directly over the PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) bus, NVMe achieves much lower latency and higher bandwidth.
