Jineteadas
Jineteadas are traditional equestrian competitions rooted in gaucho culture of the Southern Cone, especially Argentina and Chile. In these events, a rider, or jinete, attempts to remain mounted on a bucking horse for a prescribed period while the animal tries to throw him off. The horse is released into an arena, and riders rely on balance, timing, and a controlled hold of the reins to cope with the animal’s movements. A panel of judges scores performances, awarding points for time aboard, technical control, and composure, with penalties for falls, injuries, or the use of prohibited methods.
The practice is closely tied to rural life and is often featured at rodeos, fairs, and criollo
Regional variations exist: jineteadas gauchas in Argentina emphasize gaucho heritage and local customs, while in Chile
