Instructieruimte

Instructieruimte, or instruction space, is a room or area designed for delivering instruction and supervised practice. It is used in schools, training centers, libraries, and workplaces where structured teaching takes place. The space is typically equipped to support a teacher-led session and collaborative activities with smaller groups, often ranging from a few students to about a dozen.

Features and design: Common features include configurable seating (moveable desks or tables), whiteboards or blackboards, projectors or large displays, interactive panels, and reliable ICT access (converged networks, printers). Audio systems, recording capabilities, and demonstration tools may be included. The layout supports direct instruction, demonstrations, and guided practice as well as small-group work. Good acoustics, appropriate lighting, daylight access, and climate control are typical considerations. Accessibility features such as step-free access, adjustable-height furniture, and clear signage are often incorporated.

Usage contexts: In primary and secondary education, instructieruimtes may function as classrooms or skill-practice rooms, especially for subjects requiring demonstrations or hands-on activities. In vocational training, adult education, and corporate learning, they are used for tutorials, micro-lessons, simulations, and skill-based demonstrations. They are usually located within larger educational campuses or training facilities and may be connected to labs, libraries, or makerspaces.
