Eskalointia

Eskalointia is a fictional sovereign state located in the Eskalon Archipelago. The capital is Novara, and the largest city is Virel. The official language is Eskalointian, and the population is about 3.2 million. The country operates as a constitutional republic with a multi-party system.

The landscape ranges from coastlines and fjords to dense spruce and beech forests. The climate is maritime temperate with mild winters and relatively cool summers, and rainfall supports fisheries and forestry.

Long inhabited by island communities, Eskalointia formed as a federation of island jurisdictions in the late 18th century. A constitutional framework was established in 1892, formalizing a parliamentary system and a bill of rights. Since then, it has maintained democratic governance.

The culture emphasizes maritime heritage, craft industries, and seasonal festivals, notably the Aurora Festival and the Sea Harvest Parade.

Education is compulsory up to age 16, with universities centered in Novara and Virel. Transportation infrastructure includes ferries, a rail network, and an international airport in Novara.
