Enkelere

Enkelere is a fictional island nation and city-state in the northern archipelago of Elarion. Created as a setting for this article, it is described as a maritime economy with a constitutional government.

It comprises four main inhabited islands and several smaller islets, with a coastline of coves, fjord-like inlets, and natural harbors. The capital, Enkelstad, is on the southern coast of the largest island. The terrain includes coastal plains, evergreen forests, and limestone cliffs. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild, wet winters and cool summers.

Enkelere is a parliamentary republic. The president serves as ceremonial head of state, while a prime minister leads government policy. The unicameral Assembly has about 86 seats, elected for four-year terms. The constitution guarantees civil liberties and an independent judiciary.

The economy is diversified, centered on fisheries, aquaculture, and shipbuilding. Tourism and renewable energy projects, especially tidal and wind power, supplement growth.

The population is around 150,000. Enkelic is the majority ethnicity; official language is Enkelic, with English commonly used in commerce. Religious practice is largely secular, with freedom of worship protected by law.

Settlement traces date to the medieval era; Enkelere was formed as a political entity in the 17th century. An early constitution was adopted in the early 20th century, and the nation joined a regional bloc in the late 20th.

Enkelere maintains maritime traditions, seafood cuisine, and crafts. Annual events include the Tide Festival and Fisheries Heritage Week. Notable landmarks include Enkelstad Harbor, the Blue Gate, and the Lapis Cliffs.
