Endovenösit refers to a medical procedure known as endovenous ablation, a minimally invasive treatment primarily used to address varicose veins and other venous insufficiencies. The term "endovenous" indicates that the intervention is performed inside a vein, typically using thermal or chemical methods to close off or destroy the affected vein. This procedure is favored over traditional surgical options like vein stripping due to its lower risk of complications, shorter recovery time, and less scarring.

The most common techniques under endovenous ablation include radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). Both methods involve inserting a catheter or fiber into the problematic vein, which is then activated to heat and seal the vein walls, causing them to collapse and eventually be absorbed by the body. Alternatively, sclerotherapy, another form of endovenous treatment, uses a chemical solution to irritate the vein lining, prompting it to scar and close.

Endovenous ablation is typically recommended for patients with symptomatic varicose veins, such as those experiencing pain, swelling, or cosmetic concerns. Before the procedure, a healthcare provider may perform an ultrasound to map the veins and assess the extent of the issue. The treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia, allowing patients to return home the same day. Post-procedure care often includes wearing compression stockings and avoiding prolonged standing or heavy exercise for a short period to aid healing.

While endovenous ablation is generally safe, potential risks include vein perforation, nerve damage, blood clots, or infection. Success rates are high, with many patients experiencing significant improvement in symptoms and vein appearance. However, additional treatments may be required for more severe cases or if new varicose veins develop over time.
