DefoamingKontrolle
DefoamingKontrolle, or defoaming control, is the set of practices, equipment, and process controls used to prevent, reduce, or manage foam formation in industrial processes. Foam can disrupt heat transfer, mixing, gas handling, and product quality, and excessive foaming may lead to overflow, contamination, or equipment damage. The term is often used in German-speaking engineering contexts.
Foam arises from surface-active agents, gas entrainment during agitation, high surface area bubbles, and process conditions
Control methods include chemical antifoams (silicone- or hydrocarbon-based), mechanical devices (foam breakers, spargers, baffles, and weirs),
Applications span fermentation and bioprocessing, dairy and beverage production, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and wastewater
