CPRdummies

CPRdummies are medical training manikins used to practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a realistic torso. They simulate human chest anatomy and provide a safe environment to learn chest compressions, rescue breaths, defibrillator use, and related skills. They come in adult, child, and infant sizes to mirror different age groups and feature mechanisms that help learners assess technique, such as chest recoil, resistance during compression, and ventilation.

Advanced models incorporate sensors and feedback systems that measure compression depth, rate, and release, often displaying results on built-in screens or connected apps. Some CPRdummies support airway management practice, including head tilt–chin lift, jaw-thrust maneuvers, bag-valve-mask ventilation, intubation, or suction. Many devices are compatible with external defibrillators (AEDs) and can simulate realistic chest rise during ventilation. Training programs offered by organizations such as Red Cross and the American Heart Association commonly use CPRdummies to certify responders.

Size variants include adult, child, and infant dummies, and some systems are modular, allowing combinations of airway, ventilation, and circulatory training with optional add-ons such as pulse or hemodynamic feedback. The choice of model often depends on the learning objectives, budget, and assessment needs of the course.

Maintenance involves regular cleaning, battery replacement, and sensor recalibration where applicable. Dummies should be stored in a controlled environment and inspected for wear prior to use to ensure teaching effectiveness.
