CNCirányítással, often abbreviated as CNC, refers to the automated control of manufacturing equipment, such as drills, lathes, routers, and mills, by computer. The "CNC" acronym stands for Computer Numerical Control. This technology replaces manual control of machinery with programmed instructions. These instructions are typically provided in the form of numerical data, hence "Numerical Control."

In a CNC system, a computer interprets a digital design file, often created using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. This file is then translated into a set of commands that dictate the precise movements and operations of the machine tool. These commands are usually written in a specific programming language, most commonly G-code.
