Antiinflamatuvar refers to substances or treatments that reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a complex biological response of body tissues to harmful stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. It is a protective response that involves immune cells, blood vessels, and molecular mediators. Antiinflammatory drugs, commonly known as anti-inflammatories or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), work by inhibiting enzymes involved in the inflammatory pathway, most notably cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. Beyond pharmaceuticals, lifestyle factors can also play an anti-inflammatory role. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids is often considered anti-inflammatory, while diets high in processed foods and saturated fats may promote inflammation. Exercise and stress management techniques are also believed to have anti-inflammatory effects. Understanding and managing inflammation is a key aspect of maintaining overall health and preventing disease.
