Each institution is accredited by the Swedish National Property Valuation Board (Bostads- och marknadsföringsnämnden) and must adhere to national guidelines and the Swedish Valuation Guidelines, which are aligned with International Valuation Standards (IVS).

Historically, Swedish property markets saw a fragmentation of valuation efforts in the early 20th century, leading to inconsistent appraisals and market distortions.
