Venenschwellung, also known as venous swelling or venous distension, refers to the abnormal enlargement or dilation of veins. This condition can occur in various parts of the body, but it is most commonly observed in the legs. Venenschwellung is often a symptom of underlying venous insufficiency, a condition where the veins have difficulty returning blood to the heart.

Several factors can contribute to venenschwellung. Prolonged standing or sitting, a sedentary lifestyle, obesity, and a family history of venous problems are common risk factors.
