Servicedtid, short for service delivery transaction ID, is a unique identifier assigned to a service operation as it traverses a distributed application. It is used to correlate events, logs, and traces across multiple services and components involved in fulfilling a request, providing end-to-end visibility in architectures such as microservices, event-driven systems, and service meshes.

A servicedtid is typically a universally unique identifier (UUID) or a hierarchical string that may include origin service, region, and a timestamp. Implementations may encode it as a header value (for example, an HTTP header like X-ServicedTID) and propagate it in message headers or payload metadata. The exact format varies between organizations and ecosystems, and there is no single universal standard.

Generation usually occurs at the entry point of a transaction, such as an API gateway or client SDK, and the identifier is propagated to downstream services in all inter-service communications. Tracing and logging tools harvest the servicedtid to group events and spans across the entire request path, enabling operators to reconstruct workflows and diagnose issues.

Lifecycle management typically covers the duration of the transaction—from initiation through processing to completion or failure—after which the identifier is retained in logs and traces according to organizational retention policies. Security considerations emphasize that the ID is generally opaque and should not expose sensitive data; access controls and masking practices may be applied to logs where appropriate.
