Common workflows include acquiring imaging data (CT, MRI), generating a digital model, modifying the design with computer-aided tools, and fabricating the final product through additive manufacturing, milling, or other precise fabrication methods.

Applications span several medical domains. In surgery, patient-specific implants and surgical guides aim to improve fit, accuracy, and outcomes. In dentistry and maxillofacial care, customized crowns, implants, prosthetics, and aligners are designed from individual scans. In orthopedics, patient-specific joint components and cutting guides support more precise reconstructions. In cardiology, neurosurgery, and oncology, patient-specific models and planning tools assist preoperative simulations and personalized treatment strategies.
