Parekoksib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) primarily used for its analgesic (pain-relieving), antipyretic (fever-reducing), and anti-inflammatory properties. It belongs to the class of selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors, which means it targets the COX-2 enzyme more selectively than traditional NSAIDs, reducing the risk of gastrointestinal side effects such as ulcers and bleeding.
