Paksuuksiksi is a term used to describe a type of thrush, specifically the wood thrush or the Hermit thrush, that breeds in boreal forests of North America.

These birds are characterized by their distinctive brown back and white undersides, with dark spots and stripes on their upperparts. They have a distinctive song, often described as a series of descending melodic phrases. Paksuuksiksi are generally monogamous, with pairs forming during breeding season and staying together for multiple years.

Their diet consists mainly of insects, earthworms, and fruit, which they forage for on or near the ground. They are skilled at hiding from predators, often freezing in place whenever they sense danger, and are able to remain still for long periods of time.

Paksuuksiksi have been the subject of taxonomic debate, with some sources considering them to be a subspecies of the wood thrush, whereas others consider them to be a distinct species. However, genetic research suggests that the paksuuksiksi may be more closely related to the wood thrush than previously thought.

Their breeding habitats typically consist of dense coniferous or mixed forests, with a high density of vegetation and few open areas.
