Luktutvecklingen is the Swedish term for the development of smell, used to describe how olfactory perception and function emerge and change in individuals as well as how olfactory systems have evolved across species. In a broad sense it covers ontogenetic development—from prenatal stages through adulthood—and evolutionary changes in olfaction, including receptor diversity, neural processing, and behavior related to odors.
