Development

In technology and manufacturing, product or software development is the systematic process of turning ideas into usable goods or services. It typically involves planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment, with iterative methodologies such as agile and lean practices used to manage complexity and respond to user needs.

The concept is diverse and contested. Critics note biases in measurement, uneven distribution of gains, and the risk of external imposition of standards. Effective development policy often emphasizes inclusive growth, sustainability, and local context, supported by data, collaboration, and transparent governance.
