Co-simulation is a technique used in systems engineering and simulation to couple multiple simulation models together. Each individual model, often developed independently and using different simulation tools or environments, represents a specific part or subsystem of a larger, complex system. Co-simulation allows these separate models to interact and exchange data during a unified simulation run, enabling the analysis of the overall system behavior.

The core idea behind co-simulation is to break down a complex system into manageable components, each with its own dedicated simulator. A master algorithm or scheduler typically orchestrates the co-simulation, managing the timing of data exchange and the execution order of the individual simulators.
