Korkeamalta is a fictional sovereign state used in worldbuilding and speculative fiction. Officially the Republic of Korkeamalta, it is described as an archipelagic nation in the temperate northern seas, with a rugged coastline, boreal forests, and a long maritime heritage. The capital is Valtara, and the largest city is Korkeport.

Geographically, the nation comprises several major islands and numerous smaller islets. The topography ranges from granite cliffs and fjord-like inlets to highland plateaus in the interior. The name korkeamalta is said in lore to derive from the Korkan language, combining elements that roughly correspond to “high land.”

Historically, Korkeamalta formed through the unification of coastal cantons in the early modern era, adopting a constitutional charter in 1803 and achieving full independence in 1815. It subsequently developed a cautious, trade-oriented economy and cultivated regional ties through diplomacy and neutrality.

It is a parliamentary republic. The president serves as head of state, while the prime minister is head of government. The unicameral National Assembly has 72 seats and operates a multi-party system with an independent judiciary.

The economy is diversified, with services, light manufacturing, forestry, and maritime logistics as core sectors. Renewable energy, especially offshore wind and tidal power, is a growing field. The currency is the korka. Transport relies on ferries, a domestic rail network, and coastal ports, including the major harbor at Korkeport.

With an estimated population around 2.3 to 2.5 million, Korkeamalta is multilingual, with Korkan as the official language and English widely used. Cultural life centers on seafaring heritage, timber towns, and seasonal festivals; cuisine emphasizes seafood and root vegetables.

Environmental policy emphasizes sustainable forestry, marine conservation, and climate resilience. Education is compulsory and publicly funded, literacy is high, and there are two major universities along with regional colleges.
