Kipörgésgátló, a Hungarian term, translates to "anti-wheelspin device" or "traction control system" in English. It refers to a mechanism designed to prevent a vehicle's drive wheels from losing traction and spinning excessively, especially during acceleration or when encountering slippery surfaces. The primary function of a kipörgésgátló is to enhance vehicle control and stability, particularly in challenging driving conditions such as rain, snow, ice, or loose gravel.

Modern kipörgésgátló systems are typically electronic, utilizing sensors to detect when a wheel is rotating significantly faster than the others. Upon detecting wheelspin, the system can intervene in several ways. It may reduce engine power to the spinning wheel, apply a brief brake force to that wheel, or a combination of both. This controlled reduction of power or application of braking redirects torque to the wheels that still have grip, allowing the vehicle to move forward more effectively.
