Verejooksust

Verejooksust, or venous bleeding, refers to blood loss originating from damaged veins. Veins are part of the circulatory system responsible for carrying deoxygenated blood from the body's tissues back to the heart. Unlike arterial bleeding, which is characterized by bright red, pulsating blood, venous bleeding typically presents as a darker red, more steady flow of blood. The pressure within veins is significantly lower than in arteries, which contributes to this less forceful expulsion of blood.

The severity of venous bleeding depends on the size and depth of the damaged vein, as well as the location of the injury. Minor venous bleeding might be superficial, such as from a scraped knee or a small cut. More significant venous bleeding can occur from deeper lacerations or trauma affecting larger veins. While generally less life-threatening than arterial bleeds, severe venous hemorrhage can still lead to significant blood loss and potentially shock if not adequately controlled.

First aid for venous bleeding involves direct pressure applied to the wound. Elevating the injured limb above the heart can also help reduce blood flow. If bleeding is severe or does not stop with direct pressure, medical attention is necessary. Treatment in a medical setting may involve cleaning the wound, closing it with stitches, or more extensive surgical intervention if a major vein has been damaged.
