Valgusimpulsse is a Finnish term that translates to "valgus pulse" or "valgus beat" in English. It refers to a specific type of pulse wave that is characteristic of a condition known as valgus deformity, most commonly affecting the knee. In the context of biomechanics, a valgus impulse suggests an abnormal inward deviation of the leg at the knee joint during a dynamic activity, such as walking, running, or jumping. This deviation means that the knee collapses inward towards the midline of the body.

This abnormal movement can be caused by a variety of factors, including muscle weakness (particularly in the hip abductors and quadriceps), poor flexibility, improper foot mechanics (like overpronation), and structural issues within the lower limb. The valgus impulse is not a medical diagnosis in itself, but rather a description of a functional movement pattern that can contribute to pain and injury. It is often observed and assessed by physical therapists, sports medicine professionals, and orthopedic specialists.
