VFX supervisor, commonly spelled VFX supervisor, is a senior member of a film, television, or commercial production responsible for overseeing all visual effects work. The term "VFXsuprvisor" appears to be a misspelling of the role. The supervisor ensures the creative vision and technical requirements for visual effects are realized and integrated into the final product.

Responsibilities include early involvement in pre-production, collaborating with the director, cinematographer, and production designer to plan VFX needs; developing concepts, budgets, and schedules; overseeing previs, storyboards, and shot lists; coordinating on-set workflows for green-screen or practical effects; managing vendors, assets, and pipelines; reviewing dailies and approving completed shots; ensuring shots are consistent in lighting, timing, and integration with live action; and maintaining documentation for post-production and archival purposes.

Skills and tools: strong knowledge of CG workflows, compositing, and shot integration; leadership and communication; experience with Nuke or Fusion, Maya or Houdini, 3ds Max, After Effects; scripting in Python or MEL; familiarity with render management, asset pipelines, and data management.

Relationship and career path: typically reports to producers or executive producers; works closely with the director, director of photography, and production designer; may supervise a team that includes CG artists, compositors, and on-set supervisors; many VFX supervisors advance from senior VFX artist, compositor, or lighter CG roles; formal education in film, animation, or computer graphics is common but not mandatory.
