Timberlattice

Tim berlattice is a construction element consisting of wooden slats arranged in a lattice pattern, used as decorative or functional panels in outdoor and indoor applications. Timberlattice panels provide a balance of privacy, light, and ventilation, and can serve as screens, trellises, or infill panels in fences, walls, pergolas, and porch enclosures. The lattice is typically framed and built from softwood or hardwood species such as pine, cedar, or oak, with treatment for outdoor use. Slats commonly range from 6 to 25 millimeters in thickness and are arranged in square or diagonal patterns, forming a grid that can be shaped to fit different spans.

Fabrication methods vary. Panels can be preassembled in a workshop or built on site using framed lattice meshes, joined with screws or nails, and reinforced with corner brackets. Finishes include natural oil or stain, paint, or varnish to improve weather resistance. Sustainable practices may involve kiln-dried timber and certified sourcing.

Outdoor timberlattice offers advantages such as aesthetic versatility, durability when properly treated, and ease of installation. It requires maintenance to prevent decay: periodic cleaning, re-staining, and eventual replacement of damaged slats. Installations should account for drainage, expansion and contraction with humidity, and insect or fungal pressure, with appropriate protective coatings and ventilation.
