TMSWMS

TMSWMS is an integrated software concept referring to the combined use or integration of a transportation management system (TMS) with a warehouse management system (WMS) within a single platform or tightly coupled architecture. It is not a single standardized product, but a description of solutions that unify transportation planning and execution with warehouse operations to optimize end-to-end supply chain processes.

Overview: In practice, TMSWMS can be realized as either an integrated suite offered by a single vendor or as a best-of-breed configuration with strong integration between independently deployed TMS and WMS components. The objective is to provide unified data models, workflows, and user interfaces that cover order receipt, shipment planning, carrier selection, dock scheduling, goods receipt, put-away, picking, packing, and loading, with real-time visibility across transport and storage stages.

Core capabilities: Transportation planning and optimization, carrier management, rate shopping, route planning, shipment execution and tracking, yard and dock management, inventory control, put-away, picking, packing, cross-docking, labor management, and analytics and reporting. Integration and data management include master data synchronization, order and shipment synchronization, API-based communication, EDI, and event-driven updates.
